My Year in Review...

I'm excited to be back to blogging and anticipating wonderful things happening for 2011!

Here's brief review of some of my big events from 2010 . . . .

Started an Etsy store... bought a lot of things to sell, but then decided I loved most of them so much that I couldn't part with them (this happens often). Sold items, debated prices, learned lessons. Bought more stuff to sell but then I...

                                                                         This is my work!!!

Enrolled in design school... it's been very time-consuming, but I've definitely learned a lot & met some really great people. I'm hoping I'll still be able to balance it with everything else going on in my life, but either way it's been a blast. I started attending a lot of networking functions and...

Met blog friends... and realized that the best thing about writing a blog, outside of having the opportunity to share your passion the world, is forming relationships and watching them grow. These relationships have encouraged my gift, so it only made sense that I...

Started my company (legally)... the highest goal of work is to allow you to live your life's passion(s) while making money.  I'd love nothing more than to spend my days designing interior spaces, scouring thrift stores, and refinishing vintage furniture while making some dough. So I decided that's exactly what I was going to do and started my company, Dayka Robinson Designs. But in the midst of all of that, I...

Got a new gig... well, 3, to be exact. At the 1st one, I made great friends. At the 2nd one, I made great friends, had a cool (and insanely talented) boss, learned A TON about design, fell in love with floral styling, learned the ropes of television production, had a cool boss (did I say that already?), and learned that when you're doing work you love, it never really seems like work. At the 3rd one, I made great friends, had cool bosses, learned A TON about design, learned the ropes of big-time television production, fell in love with craft-services (!), and had the opportunity to participate in an amazing on-location shoot. I worked really, really hard and the work wasn't just professional, it was personal too. Lots of "life" things happened over the year, and I...

Learned a lot about myself... my sister moved to Atlanta and moved in with me for most of the year. It's been fun & frustrating (for both of us), and I've learned a lot about myself in the process.  Even when we fight I still say, thank God for family. My busy life finally forced me to upgrade from my (horrible) Blackberry, so I did what I've been talking about for years and...

Got an iPhone & said "hello" to Twitter... since getting rid of the Blackberry, my iPhone has enabled my to really take advantage of all that modern technology has to offer. Twitter has been great for connecting with new folks and it's (surprisingly) been a great source for small business-related info. (Want to follow me on Twitter? Click here.) If I remember correctly, it was on Twitter that first I posted about my major business milestone when I...

Had my first professional photo shoot... direct result of  boss for gigs #2 & #3. Never realized the importance of professional photography before working with the boss, but I'm now a believer. Thrilling experience. More details (and pics) to come soon. And only a few days after said photo shoot, I...

Attended my first blogger conference... and it was right on time, because so much of what I took away was right in line with what I'd been planning for my business & my blog in the new year. Got a chance to hang with old friends & met more great people. Lavish! 2010 rocked.

Needless to say, I had an exciting and busy 2010, but I'm expecting a phenomenal 2011!

Last year I talked about a site called Future Me that allows you to write a letter to yourself to be delivered at a date of your choice (learned about it from Makeunder My Life). It's a free service, your letter can be public (posted on the website) or private, and it's a great way to remind your future self of the hopes & dreams you have for your future today.  I encourage you all to go to Future Me and write a letter to yourself to be delivered in 6-12 months from now (or further out).  There's nothing like harnessing the energy of today to accomplish your dreams for tomorrow!

Thank you all for following my blog, Facebook & Twitter page--I wish you a safe, healthy, & prosperous 2011! And for those of you who made lists (or reviews), please leave a link in the comments--I'd love to stop by & check them out!
