Room Service Atlanta 2012 is officially in full effect.
Earlier this year we identified another amazing organization and this Fall, we're excited to announce that we've partnered with the United Methodist Children's Home here in Decatur. Founded in 1871, UMCH's mission is to provide redemptive, healing services that bring meaningful change to the lives of children & families. They offer 11 different programs for North Georgia residents including Foster Care, Adoption, Independent Living, Transitional Living, Summer Camp, Family Housing, Family Counseling, After Care, Parenting Classes, & Financial Aid.  This year we're working with their Independent Living Program which serves teens 17-21 who are aging out of Foster Care and making the transition to Independence. Erika and I initially assembled a team of 15 Interior Designers but it quickly grew to 19 due to an overwhelming response & interest in the project. We're so excited that everyone's still so passionate about RSA this year and have already started to get to work in our "new digs".

UMCH has a huge campus which is made up of several houses and cottages, each housing the various on-site programs. While Sam Bell is technically a cottage, each of the ILP residents has their own apartment within the cottage which consists of a bedroom and personal lounge (the bathroom is a communal space except for the lucky few with personal baths). Here's a peek inside:

Yup, that's a lot of wood paneling but the rooms have some great architectural details (thick moulding & trim, large windows) that are really gonna rock once everyone works their design plans. The hallway reminds me a bit of my days at Spelman College and running the halls of my Freshman dorm which had tons of transom windows above the those vintage details.

In addition to the 6 apartments, there's also a Den, Kitchen, Meeting Room & Dining Room. While the designers have quite a bit of paneling to tackle, the residents are not yet moved in which is a HUGE help in an undertaking like this. Last year  we had to work around the resident's schedules & personal belongings which definitely made the installation process a bit of a challenge.
I am so, so excited to be back working on RSA again. While we're still a new organization, we're making great strides in the Atlanta community and are blessed to have the support of some great vendors, especially the team at Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Atlanta, who always get behind our projects.  We have a few of our designers back from last year with an equal amount of new designers mixed in, so please take a moment to visit their sites if you don't know them already...
plus Erika & I.
We've also made some changes to our RSA website, so go check it out! And of course, we'd love your support & donations...of your time, a gift (paint, bedding, lighting, TVs...the list goes on), and most importantly, your dough. If you'd like to send a check (for a tax deductible receipt), please mail it to:
